It’s difficult finding your creative path; many people who design or blog want to gain more recognition and make an earning from what they love most. Many ask themselves the same question over and over again, ‘can my creativity make me a profit?’ The simple answer is yes. Read these four simple tips on how to turn your blog into a profit!
1. Email upcoming companies to promote their products
From my marketing experience so far, I’ve learned that not all companies are going to come looking for you. You may be posting regularly, but are the right people seeing your posts? Promote yourself to companies that you admire and fall into your niche. Outline what they can gain form being featured on your blog or Instagram newsfeed. In this digital age where Instagram feeds and Youtube videos trump any traditional form of advertising, brands will consider using an influencer to market their product.
Depending on what stage you are in with your blog, many companies may ask you to review and market their product in exchange for giving it to you for free. You can do this to build up the list of brands you’ve worked with, but make it clear to your audience when you do.
Once you have built yourself a loyal fan base, that is when you can begin charging for featuring products and brands. It is all dependent on how much of your audience actually engages with you, so make sure you don’t set your prices too high or too low.
2. Add your blog to your CV/Resume to get that dream job
It’s okay to add your blog as a form of experience to your CV or resume, as long as it somehow relates to the job you are applying for. Careers in marketing, fashion, and writing are where your blog will help you most!
Let companies know what you are capable of outside your day job. Your blog showcases not only your ability to commit and create something, but also valuable digital marketing, writing, and analytical skills. Just be sure to highlight on your numbers and actual outcomes on your resume or in your interviews. Did you increase your Instagram following in the month of June by 25%? How did you do it? Results are what recruiters care for.
3. Sell your services
By listening to what your readership wants and needs, you can discover new ways to sell your services and abilities. If you are an expert on a certain topic and your readership loves you for it, create an ebook. If your audience love your artwork, then make sure you highlight that you take commissions and maybe even sell your work on Etsy. The more you show that you are an expert in your field, the more you will be able to expand your services and methods of income.
4. Start a Youtube Channel
This last one might not be for everyone, but if your followers want to see more from you then Youtube is certainly the way forward. A lot of people think they’re too late to join the Youtube game, but in fact you can still make a profit through monetized videos.
Make sure you follow SEO best practices when uploading your videos, so that they are more likely to be seen by people searching for videos in your niche. Starting up series on a specific topic is a great way to gain subscribers, and as always engaging with your fans is a great way to keep them sticking around.
